My lock cover is a version of an old design where a skinned calf or deers joint was tanned and molded to fit over the lock of a flintlock rifle to shield it from the elements. I have updated it with a strap and brass button that holds it securely to any rifle except the largest muskets as the brown bess size. A must for both flintlock and percussion rifle hunters that hunt in the harsh elements. This lock cover does not water proof the flash pan but helps keep the occasional drop of rain or the falling snow from dousing the pan.
